I bet you never thought you’d read that as the topic of a Christian blog post. But in fact, I really believe that we can learn a lot about the Christian life from Eminem.

Although, I might not support all the vulgarity and profane lyrics in the songs that Eminem writes and is featured in (For my rap music fix, I prefer Andy Mineo or Lecrae, two amazing Christian rappers — yep, there is such a thing.) I think that we can take a Christian lesson away from Eminem in the final rap battle scene shown in the movie “8 Mile”, which was a semi-biographical movie about the beginning of Eminem (Marshall Mathers) into his rap career (Please note: I would not recommend this movie for anyone without parental consent).

In the final rap battle scene of the movie, there is an intensity that is brewing up between Eminem and his opponent, “Clarence”.

As the battle begins, Clarence starts off by spewing out rap that is completely derogatory towards Eminem and who he is as a person. Everyone laughs and Eminem maintains his intensely focused composure and prepares to battle.
